Rev. Fr. Iyamah marks silver jubilee of priestly ordination

It is no surprising however that the seminary would celebrate one of her formators in the person of Very Rev Fr Joseph Iyamah who marked the silver jubilee of his priestly anniversary. This celebration began on the 26th of November, 2024 with a melodious sung vespers and compline officiated by Very Rev Fr Francis Adelabu.

Every fit in life is marked by a major transformation either physically or ontologically; a silver jubilee or a golden jubilee and all other anniversaries deserve to be celebrated and indeed every stage in life. 

It is no surprising however that the seminary would celebrate one of her formators in the person of Very Rev Fr Joseph Iyamah who marked the silver jubilee of his priestly anniversary. This celebration began on the 26th of November, 2024 with a melodious sung vespers and compline officiated by Very Rev Fr Francis Adelabu. 

Fr Joseph Iyamah is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, Nigeria and was ordained in August, 1999 at Benin-city. He has been a formator in the seminary of Saints Peter and Paul since 2011 and holds a doctorate in Canon Law. He currently serves as the Director of the Saints Peter and Paul Institute of Theology, Ibadan and is one of the oldest serving formators currently in the seminary.

On Wednesday 27th of November, the seminary organized a thanksgiving mass and reception in honour of Fr Joseph Iyamah which began with the Holy Mass at 10am. The occasion was graced by relation, friends and well-wishers of the celebrant, Fr Iyamah and even the Archbishop of the Metropolitan of Ibadan in the person of His Grace, Most Rev Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin was most present for this celebration. At the Mass, the homilist Rev Fr Melchizedek Okpala, in expressing the honour he felt for being given the privilege of being the homilist, adviced the celebrant to remain faithful to his call and vocation and above all to his prayer life, which over the years have continued to be a notable virtue of Fr Iyamah.

There was the thanksgiving by Fr Iyamah and he was joined by all priests present from far and near, friends, well-wishers and seminarians. The reception followed immediately after the mass at the Seminary’s auditorium which was also graced by lots of guests present to celebrate with Fr Iyamah. There was presentation of gifts to the celebrant and many other activities. The celebrant Fr Iyamah thanked God and the Seminary community headed by the rector Very Rev Fr Anthony Igbekele for honouring him with such a warm celebration and prayed for all present.

     The joy of the celebration radiated on the celebrant and all who were present, for as it is often said that “Appreciation is application for more” and appreciation was on the lips of Fr Iyamah to everyone who graced the occasion.
