Bodija Hosts the 2025 National Seminaries Committee Meeting

Most Rev. Godfrey Igwebuike Onah, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, Nigeria; marked the official opening event of the meeting. In the Bishop’s exhorting words, he stressed the needs for the seminarians and priests to be heralds of the Gospel like St Agnes, the Virgin and Martyr saint of that day and Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi whose memorial was celebrated on the 20th of January (the previous day).

This auspicious event of the Annual meeting of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) Committee on Seminaries began on the 20th of January, 2025 with the arrival of the priests Rectors, formators and Directors of Major, Minor and Spiritual Year Seminaries in Nigeria. This event is an annual event and the Seminary of Saints Peter and Paul, Bodija, Ibadan has been privileged to be the host seminary.
    The heavenly chants of Angels in human form began the spiritual dimension of the event with the Vespers and on the following day, the Votive mass to the Holy Spirit officiated by the Bishop Chairman of the committee, Most Rev. Godfrey Igwebuike Onah, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka, Nigeria; marked the official opening event of the meeting. In the Bishop’s exhorting words, he stressed the needs for the seminarians and priests to be heralds of the Gospel like St Agnes, the Virgin and Martyr saint of that day and Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi whose memorial was celebrated on the 20th of January (the previous day).
    The event continued with various meetings and the key note speech delivered by Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Kanebi Aniagwu. It was all brought to a halt with the evening of entertainment and relaxation anchored by the seminarians on the 23rd with beautiful cultural renditions. The closing mass and departure of priests followed on the 24th with forty-seven (47) priests being in attendance, one of whom was the secretary to the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria and head of its pastoral unit.
