Bodija Celebrates Its 39th Matriculation Ceremony

The union with the University of Ibadan has borne fruit at the esteemed Saints Peter and Paul, where the 39th matriculation ceremony for students entering the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy program took place, with ninety-nine seminarians taking the oath of matriculation.

The beautiful and fruitful union between the Seminary of Saints Peter and Paul and the University of Ibadan, Nigeria is one that continues to bear fruit each year. This union has existed since 1985, when the Seminary of Saints Peter and Paul became the first affiliated institute to the prestigious premier university in Nigeria, the University of Ibadan. Since then seeds have continued to be planted and germinated through the study and acquisition of the bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.
Once again, that union has bore fruit in the hallowed grounds of Saints Peter and Paul, where the 39th matriculation ceremony of students into study for the bachelor of Arts in Philosophy took place with ninety-nine (99) seminarians taking the oath of matriculation. A joyous event it was when the officials from the University of Ibadan graced the event to administer the rite of matriculation to her newly admitted students. In his welcome speech, the rector of the Seminary of Saints Peter and Paul, Very Rev Fr Anthony Oluwagbemiga Igbekele addressed the need to inculcate the right values into the educational system so as to produce individuals who are holistically formed and ready to build the church and society. He urged the matriculands to be true and good ambassadors of the society and culture which they represent.


The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, represented by the Director, Directorate of affiliated institutions Professor Francis Offor, also in his address stressed the need to avoid mis-information that is borne out of lack of critical thinking. He urged the matriulands also to strive for what is true, honourable and acceptable.
The highlight of the event was the taking of matriculation oath by the matriculating students which was anchored by the Deputy Registrar of the University of Ibadan and she encouraged them to be true ambassadors of the University.
